Environmental protection and safety
Dunamenti Erőmű is committed to sustainable operations, which is why it considers its mission to be to ensure compliance with even the most stringent of work and environmental safety standards. To ensure that this conscious approach is carried over into the company’s everyday activities, the integrated KIR-MEBIR management system was introduced after several years of preparations and certified in May 2019. As a result, Dunamenti Erőmű conducts its electricity generation and trade and its water collection activities in line with the requirements of the MSZ EN ISO 14001:2015 and MSZ ISO 45001:2018 standards. When laying down the basics of the work safety, health, and environmental management system, great care was taken to preserve the decades of experience collected by Dunamenti Erőmű. The industry’s best practices were also observed and integrated into our processes. One of the cornerstones of our success is winning the support of our employees, which is why they were actively involved in the phases of development, training, introduction, certification, and operation.
In addition to the KIR-MEBIR management system, adherence to the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system in our electricity trading areas also plays an important role in ensuring continuous development and sustainability.

Sustainable plant size
In recent years, Dunamenti Erőmű has undergone a gradual renewal by way of investment projects based on cutting edge technological developments. Starting from the 1990s, modern, combined cycle units were installed and put into operation. This was followed by the gradual phasing out of the older, obsolete, and less efficient blocks, which were then demolished and the areas in question were rehabilitated. This activity was started in 2007 and completed in the spring of 2019.
It can now be said that Dunamenti Erőmű has taken important steps to develop a sustainable plant size and has freed up numerous areas, making them suitable for other investment projects that serve continued technological renewal and development. We have completed the demolition of the ABDE blocks and the F blocks built in the first half of the 1960s. The dismantling of the last block, block C 6, is a big step in the direction of restoring the entire area.
Partly through the utilization of Dunamenti Erőmű’s previous plant areas, the MET Danube Solar Park was completed in 2018, the result of which is an electricity-generating solar park in two parts (on a total of 40 hectares) with an integrated generation capacity of 17.6 MW. The solar park provides enough electricity to power nine thousand households.
The goal is to provide for the proper utilization and reuse of all areas that end up unnecessary. We have successfully sold a number of areas that were not in use. In 2013, we sold an area that included an industrial track network of substantial size, which now serves as the site of Illés Holding Zrt. We sold another property of 4.5 hectares, also on Csenterics Sándor út, which houses office buildings and an industrial hall.
The modern gas furnaces once commissioned by the power plant to heat Százhalombatta are now owned and operated by Energia Magyarország Zrt. The buildings once used to house workers have been sold to a company in Százhalombatta, which sees a business opportunity in redesigning and reusing the buildings.
The sale of these properties is currently under way. The details are available on the https://www.dert.hu/hu/ingatlanertekesites site.
